ANSWERS TO THE MOST COMMON QUESTIONS

What is a medical spa?
A medical spa or MedSpa is a doctor’s office that offers medical grade cosmetic services in a day spa setting. Perfect57 MedSpa operates under the supervision of Dr. Omar Ahmed M.D., a licensed Medical Doctor. In addition, our medical professionals are licensed, educated and certified to ensure the highest level of care for every patient.
Do you require a deposit for booking an appointment?
A $250 deposit is required to book any service that takes 2 or more hours to complete. A $100 deposit is required to book an injectable service, including consultations. If you keep your appointment, the amount will be put towards your total treatment cost. Your deposit is forfeited if you give no notification or if you cancel less than 24 hours before your scheduled appointment time.
Can my child accompany me?
Unfortunately, because we are a medical office, we cannot have unsupervised children under the age of 12 in the waiting area. Children are also not allowed in treatment rooms since we do work with lasers and needles along with other technologies requiring safety precautions.
What happens if I need to cancel my appointment?
Due to the individualized nature of the services that we offer, our medspa professionals are here to prepare treatment rooms and services in advance for each client. If you are unable to keep an appointment, please let us know at least 24 hours in advance. A fee of $50 will be charged for appointments not canceled within this time frame.
Do you host spa or Botox parties?
Absolutely, just call the spa and we will customize a spa party for you and all of your friends. We require a 50% deposit for groups of 4 or more people..
Are there any restrictions when I call to book a peel?
In order to book the ZO 3 Step Peel, you are REQUIRED to be on the ZO Skin Health System for 5-6 weeks prior to your appointment. Failure to do so can result in damage to the skin including burning, hyperpigmentation or hypopigmentation or no result at all. If you choose not to follow this format, you will be required to sign a waiver form which absolves Perfect57 MedSpa from any liability resulting from the treatment.
Will dermal fillers and Botox correct all of my wrinkles?
It is about 80-100% effective, but only with repetitive upkeep of injections. The time between injections depends on how long it takes the body to metabolize the dermal filler or Botox™ and also on the type of filler itself. Additionally, the condition and health of your skin will also play a role in how long your fillers and Botox™ will last as well as how good of a result you achieve. We highly recommend layering or pairing treatments so that you get the most out of the services you choose.
Are there any pre-treatment requirements if I decide to book a peel?
Yes. We advise all of our patients that you may not be exposed to the sun at high levels or be on any sun-sensitive antibiotics for the 2 weeks prior to your appointment. In addition, you need to be off of any products containing retinols as this will increase the peeling process.
Are chemical peels painful?
Mild discomfort or stinging/itching may occur during and/or after chemical peels. Stronger peels, such as our ZO 3-Step Peel will have somewhat more downtime, including moderate exfoliation of the skin.
What are some common misconceptions about laser hair reduction (LHR)?
LHR is permanent hair reduction, not permanent hair removal. Each treatment will result in approximately 20% hair reduction in size and density. It usually takes about 6 treatments to reach maximum reduction, with a touch-up or two yearly (depending on the fluctuation of hormones). LHR does not work on blonde, red, gray or white hairs; darker hair and lighter skin yields the best results. Schedule your complimentary consult to see if LHR is right for you.
Are there any health conditions that would prohibit me from getting a service?
Please be aware when scheduling your appointment that certain health concerns and medical conditions may require medical clearance before you can receive services. If you are currently under medical care, please notify our reservation staff to ensure that you can be seen.
How often should I get a facial?
Getting a facial every 6 – 8 weeks deep cleanses your skin in a way you cannot do at home. Plus, it gives you the chance to discuss your skin needs with an expert. Additionally, treatments such as chemical peels, microneedling or laser facials while providing a multitude of benefits, they do not substitute a cleaning.
What precautions should I take before or after my treatment?
Treatment requirements vary. With some treatments we require patients to avoid sun exposure for 4-6 weeks and again after treatment until your physician allows it. Consult your practitioner for specific precautions that relate to your individualized treatment plan.
Is laser hair removal permanent?
While some follicles can be permanently damaged, we also have dormant hair follicles that are not affected throughout the course of someone’s treatments so we always educate our patients to expect about a 75-80% reduction in hair growth after a series of 6 treatments.
What is light-based therapy (intense pulsed light) and how does it work?
Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) therapy is an effective way to rejuvenate the skin, giving it a more youthful appearance. Light-based treatments use a less-intense, broader spectrum of light than lasers, but are effective in treating skin pigments, rosacea, small blood vessels, and collagen skin rejuvenation,
Can I put on make-up after a facial treatment?
Make-up generally shouldn’t cause any post-facial clogging, unless you’ve had aggressive extractions, an ablative or non-ablative peel, PRP/Microneedling or the Fotona™ 4D Facelift. In those instances we advise to be makeup-free for the first 24-72 hours. Your technician will guide you in making that decision Otherwise, make-up as you wish.
Why don’t you post prices online?
Pricing depends on the area of your face or body that is being treated, the number of areas you are having treated, the number of treatments you will need to achieve your goals and any specials that we might be running. With all these factors, it’s easy to see why it might be difficult to clearly relay every possible pricing scenario on our website. Therefore, we invite you to call us at 212.901.0656 and one of our staff members will gladly discuss general pricing with you for treatments and products. They will also offer to set up a complimentary consultation for you so a treatment plan can be created based on your individual needs, goals and budget.
What is the difference in your skincare products from anything else I have tried?
We carry and use what is commonly referred to as “medical grade” or “pharmaceutical grade” skincare which simply means our products can contain a higher level of active ingredients, a higher quality or grade of ingredients than over the counter, along with proven studies to show it really works. By law, products sold in drug stores or department stores – cosmeceuticals- are not allowed to change the composition or molecular structure of the skin. Our staff has been fully trained on the product lines we carry and will provide you with all of the information you will need to improve or maintain the look of your skin.
